Reorganisation and Interior Upgrade of a Classic Berlin Apartment with Lake Views
The existing layout of the traditional Altbau apartment no longer aligned with the living needs of its new owners. In response, a comprehensive spatial reconfiguration and material refinement was developed to enhance both functionality and atmosphere.
Central to the brief was the desire for an open-plan living and dining area with a contemporary, light-filled kitchen. This required relocating the previously enclosed kitchen from the courtyard side into the generously proportioned dining room, now fluidly connected to the living space. The former kitchen area was repurposed to accommodate a new dressing room, while the bathroom was repositioned accordingly.
The intervention also included the replacement of all existing parquet flooring and the implementation of a coherent color and surface concept, subtly differentiating individual zones while ensuring an overall sense of calm and cohesion. The result is a modern reinterpretation of historic Berlin living, tailored precisely to the spatial and aesthetic expectations of its inhabitants.
